Official Announcement | The Postal Service rings
in the holiday season with the issuance of a pane of 50 (Item 5516), a booklet of 20 (Item
6655), and a peel-and-stick booklet of 20 (Item 6642) 32-cent Holiday Contemporary stamps
on September 30 in North Pole, New York. Designed by John Grossman and Laura Alders of Richmond Point, California, the stamps feature four different designs from the Victorian and Edwardian eras: Santa going down the chimney, Santa making a sled, a boy and his tree, and a child with a handmade puppet. The Holiday Contemporary stamps go on sale nationwide October 2. |

Note | Each booklet contains two different panes. On one, the top two stamps are the Santa at the chimney and the Boy with a jumpin jack. The other pane has the Boy with a tree and Santa with a sled. |
Unfolded Panes | There are two different Unfolded Panes as above. Also, in most cases, the panes were trimmed through the bottom perforations. |
Stamp Distribution - Stamp Booklets (Item 6655)
All SDOs and SDNs will receive an automatic distribution of half their standard distribution for a water-activated adhesive stamp booklet, rounded to the nearest master carton size (4,500 booklets). SDOs and SDNs will not make an automatic distribution to post offices. The Minneapolis Information System Service Center will not provide a distribution listing or Form 3309, Advice of Shipment/ Stamp Invoice.
To obtain quantities of this issue, post offices must immediately submit separate Forms 17 to their designated SDOs and separate Forms 17-S to their designated SDNs. There will not be back-up quantities of this item at the APDs or SDNs.
Philatelic Requirement
Post offices with authorized philatelic centers will receive their standard philatelic quantity for a water-activated adhesive stamp booklet.
