Official Announcement

The Postal Service will issue a 32-cent Love Cherub stamp, in a convertible booklet of 20 self-adhesive stamps (Item 6672), a 32-cent Flag Over Porch stamp, in a convertible booklet of 10 self-adhesive stamps (Item 6609), and a 1-cent American Kestrel stamp, in coils of 500 (Item 7961) and 3,000 (Item 7962), on January 20, 1996, in New York, New York. The stamp and stamp booklets go on sale nationwide January 22. No official dedication ceremony is planned.

The Love Cherub stamp, designed by Terry McCaffrey of the U.S. Postal Service, features one of the two cherubs from Raphael’s Sistine Madonna painting. The design is the same as the stamp issued on February 1, 1995, but includes the denomination.

Distribution Distribution — $6.40 Love Cherub Convertible Booklet (Item 6672)

All stamp distribution offices (SDOs) and stamp distribution networks (SDNs) will receive two automatic distributions of half their standard distribution for the self-adhesive booklets, rounded up to the nearest master carton size (4,500 booklets). The first distribution will be completed by January 8, 1996. From the first distribution, SDOs and SDNs will make subsequent automatic distributions to post offices, using Form 3309, Advice of Shipment/Stamp Invoice, and Form 17 , Stamp Requisition. SDOs and SDNs must not distribute booklets to post offices before January 11. The second distribution is scheduled to start February 13 and will be completed by May 13. The accountable paper depositories (APDs) and SDNs will have 2,767,500 booklets as back-up quantities. The distribution to APDs and SDNs is scheduled to begin May 13 and will be completed by July 15.

Philatelic Requirement

Stamp distribution offices with authorized philatelic centers will receive their standard automatic distribution for subsequent distributions to each center.

Additional Supply

Post offices requiring additional booklets must order them from their designated SDO on Form 17, Stamp Requisition, or designated SDN using Form 17-S, Stamp Distribution Network Stamp Requisition. SDOs requiring additional booklets must order them from their APD, using a separate Form 17, being mindful of the distribution schedules.
