Official Announcement The Postal Service will issue a 32-cent Sano di Pietro Madonna and Child stamp (Item 6679), in a self-adhesive convertible booklet of 20, on October 27, 1997, in Washington, D.C. The stamp goes on sale nationwide October 28.

Designed by Richard Sheaff of Norwood, Massachusetts, the stamp features a detail of Italian artist Sano di Pietro’s painting, Madonna and Child with Saints and Angels. The stamp is the latest addition to the Holiday Traditional series.

Distribution of Convertible Booklet of 20 Self-Adhesive Stamps

All stamp distribution offices (SDOs) and stamp distribu-tion networks (SDNs) will receive one-half their standard quantities for convertible self-adhesive booklets, rounded to the nearest master carton size (4,500 booklets).

SDOs and SDNs will make subsequent automatic distribution to post offices using Form 3309, Advice of Shipment/Stamp Invoice, and Form 17 , Stamp Requisition.

SDOs and SDNs must not distribute stamps to post offices before October 20, 1997.

Philatelic Requirements

SDOs and SDNs with authorized philatelic centers must provide subsequent distribution of these convertible self-adhesive booklets to each philatelic center from their initial automatic distribution.

Additional Supply

Post offices requiring additional stamps must requisition them from their designated SDO or SDN, using a separate Form 17. SDOs requiring additional stamps must order them from their Accountable Paper Depositories (APDs), using a separate Form 17. All APDs and the Kansas City, Missouri, SDN will each receive 432,000 stamp booklets for filling supplemental orders.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) will have an additional 2,045,500 stamps for filling orders. All authorized CAG A–G post offices may submit Form 3356, Stamp Requisition — Bulk Quantities, for Item 6679 to the BEP. Requisitions to the BEP must be submitted in the standard ordering quantities: 1,500 booklets, 3,000 booklets, and mul-tiples of 4,500 booklets to a maximum 135,000 booklets per requisition.
