Official Announcement The Postal Service will issue a pane of 50 (Item 5519) and a booklet of 20 (Item 6660) 32-cent Holiday Traditional (Madonna and Child) commemorative stamps on October 19 in Washington, DC.

Designed by Richard D. Sheaff, of Boston, Massachusetts, both the pane and the booklet of stamps feature Florentine artist Giotto di Bondone’s Madonna and Child, which dates to the early fourteenth century. The painting, which is part of the Samuel H. Kress Collection in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, was created on wood as the central part of a five-section altarpiece.

The Madonna and Child holiday traditional stamps go on sale nationwide October 20.
